The Ozone IMP III Trainer kite is a high quality foil kite manufactured by the worlds leading foil kite and paraglider companies. The kite comes with 18m lines in a three line configuration (2 x front lines and a back brake/safety line) and is available in 1.5m, 2.5m and 3.5m sizes. The larger the kite the more power. The smaller the kite, the stronger the wind you can fly it in.
The IMP III trainer is designed to fly like a full sized power kite and is the ideal learning kite if you are going to get into kite surfing or land boarding. The relaunch ability after a crash is easy with the use of the third brake line. Just pull on the brake and turn the bar to allow the kite to relaunch on it's own without assistance. This saves huge frustration and allows more time actually flying the kite than chasing after it setting it up for re-launch after every crash.
The safety leash is connected to the brake line and when the bar is released, kills all power of the kite and allows the kite to fall harmlessly to the ground where it will stay until relaunched.
The IMP III trainer also comes complete with a basic "how to" and set up and fly manual. This is a great little kite for the whole family to enjoy and not just for those interested in kite surfing. The IMP Trainer is also ideal for those interested in learning mountain board kiting and snow kiting and can be used to power stakeboards as well as mountain boards.

David Vize (Friday, 25 January 2008) Rating: I bought this kite of course as a learner for Kite surfing. Living a long way from Perth I thought it safer to start out with something like this, then work my way up.rnrnIts a very easy kite to fly and I managed to self launch fairly quickly. The instructions are a little sparse and contain information for both setup types (kiteboard bar style and buggy style) in parrallel, so I kept looking for a safety loop adjustment that doesnt really seem to exist (!?) or perhaps I just havent found it yet.rnThanks guys for the excellent service and advice on the phone to someone a LONG way out of Perth.rnrnAt 90 kg I got the occasional short drag along the sand and quickly discovered that it is not designed to land in water or in the tide. having flown similar style of two string stunt kites, I found very quickly that I wanted a bigger kite, but this has already proven a good kite that I have used to show others the basics without them being overwhelmed.rnrnDe-power string is great for self launch and in higher winds, though it is a loose string hand controlled, functions seem similar to a larger kite (I have very little experience of them) but you have to pull in by hand to depower, taking a hand off the control bar. Opposite motion to large kites that have the push to brake effect but not the worlds biggest drama.rnrnNow looking forward to getting to Perth for a few lessons to safely enjoy the larger kites.rnrnCheersrnDavid at Hopetoun.rn
